Vintage USA Marathon (Rawlings)Duke Snider 60-4232 Playmaker Baseball Glove-1954

Description

I have for bids, a vintage, USA 3 finger Duke Snider (pic #3) Marathon Sporting Goods 60-4232 “Playmaker” (pic #2) baseball glove, manufactured in 1954.  This glove was made by Rawlings, and was their top of the line model, comparable to the Stan Musial PM, and Mickey Mantle MM “Personal Model” gloves (exact same patent number).  Glove is adult size, with top grade leather and lacing.  Glove is well padded and in excellent-plus condition, with no rips, tears, holes, or cracks. The inside is just as nice, with no rips, tears, holes, cracks or chaffing.  Has the single “X Anchored-Web” (pic #5), brass wrist button, (pic #9), rolled leather piping and a fully leather lined interior (pic #7).  All leather lacing is original, and some silver still showing in the stampings (pic #1).  The glove is the 1st year model for Duke Snider in 1954.  Notice there is no upper heel lacing and has the older sewn exterior patch under web.  Duke Snider played 18 years, with most of his career as a Dodger in Brooklyn (1947-’57) and Los Angeles (1958-’62) and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980.  He had a career 407 home runs and a .295 batting average.  He was part of the trio of center fielders in New York, ( Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle and Duke Snider) all making it into the Baseball Hall of Fame.  Glove is 67 years old.  A great baseball Hall of Fame collectible!!!  Thank you for looking.
