    Description

    Antique Spaulding child size (8.5") catcher mitt. Made of suede and heavy cloth.
    From research, starting around 1915, gloves started to use a lacing device on its closures and finger web.  This enabled adjustment by the user.  The web is approx. 1" wide and firmly attached, but with no lace.  The hand closure on the front has its original lace.  Handwritten on front is "Walter ScHo?, JUNIORSCHO  ?", the original owner, who grew up in Cripple Creek CO in the early 1900s.
    Overall, the mitt is in very good used and age-appropriate condition with no tears or major stains and wear reflective of play. The web is tightly attached and the seams worn but tight.  Interior glove material is in very good condition, no rips, no tears.
