Description
Vintage Spaulding Full Web White Baseball Glove from the early 1900's. This type of glove design was originally developed between 1900 and 1909. "Full Webs" are sewn directly to the thumb and forefinger. The leather on this entire glove is very soft; the web, patch, button and leather piping are in great condition and the inside leather lining is soft, supple and fully intact. There are no rips or tears in any of the seams, inside or out. The back side ring finger has an ink smudge, possibly the name and address stamped from a previous owner; only the number 15 is clearly readable. The thumb has a clearly visible stamped blue ink mark "J.A.Francis", which (in my opinion) adds to the provenance of the glove. The palm of the glove is well worn, but still intact, however no brand or model markings are clearly visible, which makes precise dating for this glove difficult. There is a small v-shaped hole in the palm, below the middle finger which is hard to see but mentioned for full disclosure. It's rare that these full web gloves come up for auction, especially a white one in such good condition. Included with your auction purchase is a nice glass window box display case.
