Description
Vintage Denkert Rip Collins "Greased Palm" mitt is made of genuine cowhide. It has a "Rip Collins" trademark with "Rip Collins" auto-signed below trademark. The number on the glove is BM 24 (which means Baseman's Mitt). It is believed to be manufactured in 1934. The glove measures approximately 7 1/2" wide by 10 1/2" in length. There are several stress lines but no cracks through the leather. The glove's overall condition is good considering its age but may need some cleaning.Rip Collins played for the St Louis Cardinals and in 1934 he became the first switch-hitter in the major leagues to hit 30 home runs in a season. His .333 average helped the Cardinals get to the National League pennant and a World Series title.
