    Vintage Phil Cavarretta 1945 MVP Marathon Sporting Goods Baseball Glove  #4252
    This is a great old baseball glove and a nice piece of Americana.  It is from my Father's Estate.
    Philip Joseph Cavarretta was an American Major League Baseball first baseman, outfielder, and manager. He was known to friends and family as "Phil" and was also called "Philibuck", a nickname bestowed by Cubs manager Charlie Grimm. Cavarretta spent almost his entire baseball career with the Chicago Cubs.
    Phil was the only major leaguer to have played with the likes of Babe Ruth & Hank Aaron.  He played from 1934-1951 & then managed until 1955.
    N.L. MVP in 1945 & passed in 2010.  Made by Marathon Sporting Goods, #4252 of genuine horsehide Pancake style back.
    This measures approximately 9 3/4" wide in size.  Good condition.
