    Description

A vintage Reinhold Merkelbach souvenir lidded beer stein
A small sized ornate German post-war beer stein, produced by Reinhold Merkelbach. The mold number 3945, which is still just visible on the bottom, indicates a production date after World War II.The front panel shows a group of three people and their dog on a blue glazed background, a typical scene found on many steins.
The top and bottom rim are glazed in a gold colour. The phrase on the sides of the stein says"Der Liebe nicht Jedes gelingt, der Durst aber alles bezwingt"which translates to"Not the love of each succeeds, but the thirst overcomes all".The stein has an ornate pewter lid stamped "DBGM" and with Reinhold Merkelbach's hallmark which was used during the period 1964-1989.
