Vintage 1940's Art Mahan Professional Model Game ? Used Baseball Glove Philadelphia PhilliesI had Art Mahan autograph a few baseballs for me back in 2007.
Then, I kept my eye out for some other neat collectibles. I cam across this vintage baseball glove, from the 1940's. It had Art Mahan's name stamped in it. I have no idea, whether they mass produced these, or if this may have been a personal model glove for Art to use. I would think, since he only played 1 year in the Major Leauges...1940, and for only 146 games, that this may have been a game used glove by Art. I find it hard to believe that some company could mass produce a glove of a guy with only 1 year of playing time in the Major Leagues.
I have no idea whether it is game used...just think that it's unique, rare and pretty cool.
Anyhow, I bought the glove and was gonna make a shadow box display with a couple of other things including a signed Art Mahan baseballs and maybe a couple of photos.
Buy this glove and buy my autographed Art Mahan baseball...in another of my auctions and start your own shadow box display.
Well, I'm honestly out of room and I need to let a few of my prized possessions go.
Art began his career in 1940 with the Philadelphia Phillies. He played his entire one-year career for the Phillies 1940. During his career, he played in 146 games and banged out 133 hits (including 24 doubles, 5 triples and 2 HR's) in 544 at bats for a .244 batting average. Art drew 40 walks, knocked in 39 runs and scored another 55 runs.
