USMC Marine Corps EMBASSY Security Guard Bn PATCH large! Marines/State Dept MSG

Attention all Marines and Marine Corps patch enthusiasts!  This is a FINE example of a unit logo patch for
US Marine Corps Security Guard Battalion.
These can't be found just anywhere!
Not, of course, allowed on the uniform, but worn on all manner of off-duty civilian caps and clothing as novelty items.
USMC Embassy Security Group home base is Quantico, but its members are stationed all across the globe!  Founded in 1948, “MSG” provides Marine security detachments at
US Embassies
and
Consulates
as required by the State Department.  (The two seals on the patch represent this cooperation between the USMC and the Department of State.)
The unit has about
1,000 Marines total,
with about 100 of those at Quantico, performing HQ and training functions.  But the majority of personnel make up more than
120 small detachments
stationed at diplomatic posts in over
105 countries.
Each detachment is commanded by an NCO (Staff Sgt or higher.)  Their mission is to provide security for the diplomatic compound and US citizens within, including the protection of classified documents and equipment.
Recent Developments:
The unit is now known as
“Marine Corps Embassy Security Group,”
so that makes this patch even more of a collectible!
This is a BRAND NEW and UNUSED patch.  It is NOT a war relic but a recent manufacture item!  Embroidered on tan twill with merrowed edge and plastic heat-sealed backing (as shown in 2nd photo.)  Colors are clean and bright.  See ruler in photo for size comparison.

current and correct postal delivery address,
and to check your mailbox regularly.
