  • Condition: Note that I glued down the welting for 1.5" on the bottom of the back of the middle finger as the stitching had come loose. There is no owners ink on the glove. Soft exterior & interior leather. There is chafing in the palm area of the interior leather but the leather is still soft and flexible there. The leather piping shows wear but overall is OK. I had a nice similar era Spalding patch sewn on to replace a torn one. The lacing appears original and is intact. There is wear on the lacing on the back of the web. The stamping is a little light in the places, but is still readable.

    Description

    Here is a vintage 1960's era Spalding Rocky Colavito model RCA 42-251 baseball glove for a RH thrower, like Colavito was. The glove was made in the USA. The catalog info I have shows this glove only being made in 1963 with Colavito's endorsement and sold for .45 when the top line glove sold for . It was a midline glove. The glove fits my adult hand. The glove measures 11" long through the palm. The stamping on the glove is Flex Action Web, Form Pocket, Rocky Colavito (with an outline of a fielder jumping for a ball in the pocket), Autograph Model, E-Z Flex (heel), RCA 42-251, Spalding and Made in U.S.A.  the only thing stamped on the back of the glove is stamped Pat. No. 2,995,757.

    Rocky Colavito played from 1955 - 1968 (14 years) as a right fielder. His best years were for the Cleveland Indians
    from 1955-1958 and 1965-part of 1967 and for the Detroit Tigers and also for the Detroit Tigers from 1960-1963. He also played for the Kansas City A's, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees.  He was a 9 time All-Star. He was a power hitter, slugging 374 homers in his career.
