Castle Rock, the county seat of Douglas County was named for the large rock outcrop east of town that dominates the landscape.
This car is a Burlington Route 40 foot boxcar manufactured in March of 1951 by the company car shop in Havlock, Nebraska. The car was shopped at Havlock in May of 1959 when it recieved the "Chinese Red" paint scheme. The car carries the "Everywhere West" slogan on the brakewheel end and the "Way of the Zephers" slogan on the other end. The car also sports the red and black "Burlington Route" logo.
