Harmon Killebrew A2230 Model
, baseball glove. Although this particular glove has less flaws than the Jim Hickman and Jimmy Piersall gloves I have currently listed, I honestly do not think it has as good a pocket as the other two ball gloves. Once this glove is put on, I do not get the same feeling that I can catch anything with this glove as I do with the other two gloves I have just referenced. The major flaw with this g
love primarily revolves around the leather lacing, the biggest of which is missing leather lacing at some of the places around the pocket, but also a couple of places outside the thumb area. Please see all the photos attached, and enlarge please. The cloth Wilson patch on the wrist strap is intact, and readable. On the outside of the glove the number 33 is written on both the thumb and inside under the wrist strap, but it is so small that I really don't consider that to be a flaw in and of itself; it's existence merely makes the glove "less perfect". And very lightly on the thumb, (right after the "Nylon Stiched" stamp), exists in almost worn-out letters the word "Lee". (Please see photos # 5 and 11 above). Also by the wrist strap is a darked-in area, also easily observable in photos # 5 and 11 above. This glove just doesn't feel as good on my hand as does the Piersall and Hickman gloves.
Harmon Killebrew, nicknamed ’The Killer’, was a first baseman, third baseman, and left fielder who spent most of his 22-year career in Major League Baseball with the Minnesota Twins. Harmon was one of the most feared power hitters in the 1960s. At the time of his retirement
Killebrew
had the
fourth-most home runs in major league history, and he was the American League career leader in home runs by a right-handed batter.
He hit at least 40 home runs in a season eight times, and he was named to
thirteen
All-Star
teams
. Killebrew won the American League's
MVP award in 1969
(his finest season), and Harmon was rightfully inducted into the
National
Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984
. Killebrew was known as an all-around gentleman during his playing career, and he was even noted as being kind to the umpires.
