Mettlach Lidded Beer Stein 2809 Etched Der Getreue Geckart Faithful Eckart .5L

Description

This listing is for the ½ liter Mettlach lidded stein that you see in the photos. I purchased it at an estate sale where I was not told its history. I think that it is probably antique but I leave it to the buyer to decide how old it is.
It is not easy to read the impressed mark but some research tells me that the number is 2809. One source tells me that the words, “ Der Getreue Geckart” that is written on it translate to “Faithful Eckart”. I leave it to the buyer to decide how true that is.
Measured to the top of the thumb piece, it measures close to 7 ½ inches tall. It weighs close to 1 pound 12.6 ounces. A photo of the inside makes it look green which it is not. It is white.
The condition is much like you see in the photos. It is generally in excellent condition. There is some tarnish on the metal. If I shine a bright light on the glaze on the inside, I can see a few extremely fine cracks or craze lines in the glaze in one area. Otherwise, there are no cracks or chips. There are no dents in the metal. It might benefit a little from a light cleaning. There are some tiny specks of what looks like foreign matter on the bottom of the inside that I cannot reach with my fingers to see if they can be removed. They look like they might be something in the glaze. Otherwise, this stein is fine and as shown.
I guarantee this lion sculpture to be as described and represented by the 11 photos after the general desciption. The photos are part of the description. Please look at all of them.
Please know that the lighting in my photos is uneven and that there might be shadows or reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors. Different monitors may show different colors. I often say that an item measures or weighs “close to” because in my opinion no measurements are exact and some things are difficult to measure.

I often but not always ship the same or the next day. Often, I have a double wall box custom made for larger items and that might result in a short delay. When I use packing peanuts, they are usually biodegradable. Sometimes, I use used boxes.
