Description
Matthias Girmscheid Lidden Beer SteinThis beer stein is marked: Keinen Tropen im Becher mehr, und der Beutel schlaff u. leer., which translates to " No more drops in the beaker and the purse is slack and empty" This is taken from the poem Die Lindenwirtin which honors the famous innkeeper Annchen Schumacher, a celebrated figure in Germany. This beer stein measures about 8 1/2 inches tall to the top of the lid. It measures 3 5/8 across at the bottom. This is in very good condition. This piece has a uniform fine crazing. I couldn't find any chips or damage to the stein. The detail is very good and the design is very well done. The lid is very good, there is a small minor nick on the edge of the lid. It isn't real noticeable and I couldn't get it to show up in the pictures. I wouldn't think it detracts much as it's very tiny. The bottom markings are lightly struck and faint, Germany is legible, but not much else, part of the number can be seen.
