Here are a pair of .5 L West German manufactured ceramic beer steins from the famous Luchow's restaurant that was formerly located in New York City on 110 East 14th street at Irving Place in East Village in Manhattan that was established in 1882 when purchased by a German immigrant, August Luchow. It became a landmark for its German cuisine and Wurzburger and later Pilsner beer. It evolved into a favorite dining hall for people in the entertainment world. James Montgomery Flagg is quoted to have said "Through the doors of Luchow's pass all the famous people of the world". Anyway, this pair of mugs were brought home from an outing at Luchow's decades ago and have been in the same family since acquired. They are thought to have been purchased by the estate executors late father. I find no damage, with just general crazing to the glaze that is common to most older ceramics. The lids have some spotting , wear, etc but I did not try to polish the metal. Offering is for the pair as found.
