Out for bidding is this sort of booklet compiled by Frank LAPA and translated from the German by Ruth RUCHLEMER. Published in 1972 consisting of a text and eight ( 8 ) plates illustrating 24 different shekels in black and white. A good reference book for the avid collector. Also it is coming together with a shekel; the No. 4 illustrated in the plate No. 2. The shekel bears in the obverse the censer or chalice with the raising fumes and in the reverse the branch with leaves. The shekel measures 31 mm. in diameter, seems to be made out of lead or white metal and is in very good antique condition. I am not an expert in this field and I can not authenticate the shekel as an original piece from the period: it can be a copy. The inscriptions are in modern square Hebrew characters. Together with the book which is out of print we are offering the two pieces at a reasonable starting price.
