Description
This is a vintage leather catchers mitt or glove. Endorsed by Bill Dickey who played for the New York Yankees during the 1920's, 30's and 40's. The glove is a MAXIMUS H118 and buckle style. Good condition with normal wear and tear --see photos. Leather is very professionally made. About 10 inches or more side to side. A 1930's mitt I believe. A previous owner wrote their name in the palm of the glove with marker. The glove also has some markings from age, usage and oxidation.Dickey played for the Yankees from 1928 through 1943. Dickey returned to the Yankees in 1946 as a player and manager. He retired after the 1946 season, but returned in 1949 as a coach. During Dickey's playing career, the Yankees went to the World Series nine times, winning eight championships. He was named to 11 All Star Games. As a manager and coach, the Yankees won another six World Series titles. Dickey was elected to theBaseball Hall of Famein 1954.
