The brigade movement in the People's Republic of Bulgaria is organized use of work brigades by young people (pupils, students, soldiers) or workers and employees during the planned economy.
Initially, the work of the participating foremen is not paid. Later, young foremen were paid, and workers who were disconnected from their work were paid their regular salaries.
Foremen are involved for a short period of time to perform certain work (usually seasonal) on the farm (agriculture, construction, industry, etc.) or on the country's infrastructure. Within the brigade movement, important roads and railways, dams, power plants, power lines, industrial enterprises, public buildings have been built, many afforestation measures have been carried out, and many of these sites are still in use.
