    Description

    The stein depicted in this auction was made by the J. W. Remy firm of Germany.  The stein is stoneware and relief with a pewter lid and a very nice thumb.  The stein is two tone in color and the size is 1.0 L.  The form number is 611. The name of the stein is Woman with two Suitors. The firm of J.W. Remy was founded in the Westerwald town of Höhr by Johann Wilhelm Remy in 1864. Although it managed to survive for more than 100 years, and through two World Wars, the company finally succumbed to the pressures of slowing demand and was forced to terminate operations in 1966.
