    Antique German/Austrian Faience Beer Stein Salzburg Floral Motifs c.1820
    Description:
    Presented is an early German beer stein made around Biedermeier period of 1820s. The stein was made in the factory of Salzburg - one of the oldest faience factory in modern Austria, then a part of German world. The stein is made from traditional Salzburg light brown clay and glazed with white tin glaze.
    The stein was nicely painted by a skilful artist with a floral bouguet and some side flowers and a fly.

    typical for the Biedermeier period od 1820-1830 shape and thumblift - smaller hollow ball and sturdy five-ring close hinge
    . Beautiful piece of beer drinking culture about 200 years old.
