Description:
This antique German beer stein was made of pewter with exceptional quality and precision. It was made in the 1890s when the beer stein production reached its peak in popularity, quality and craftsmanship.
The stein as slightly tapered body with relief bands and a very ornate lid and thumblift. The lid shows a shield with a night's armour helmet, the thumblift is made the same way - as a blank heraldica Coat-of-Arms. It was done in the ways of the Historismus movement - the nostalgic tribute to the "good old years" in German history.
The stein is quite heavy and very impressive. It stands 6.5" tall to the top of the top of the thumblift, 0.5L capacity.
The stein is in a very good condition for the age - there is some minor dings to the pewter practically unavoidable in the soft metal this old. There is some uneven patination spots, but no breaks, splits or repair. Beautiful and monumental beer drinking vessel about 130 years old!
