    Antique 1869 Gladstone Henry Greener Pressed Glass Plate
    William Ewart Gladstone became Prime Minister of England in 1868 during the reign of Queen Victoria. Henry Greener & Co. registered the design for this commemorative pressed glass plate in 1869. According to one internet source, the “For the Million” statement in the center of the plate refers to the 1867 Second Reform Act that increased the number of men permitted to vote from one to two million. The Act took effect over two years, culminating in 1869. Gladstone supported the Act.
