    Description

The stein has no manufacturing mark. It is typical of salt glazed steins coming form the Westerwald area. steins like this one I would say came from a period of 1895-1915. This particular stein depicts the trumpeter of Sachigen as he plays a farewell song to the baron's daughter who the Baron would not allow his daughter to marry him because he was not royalty. (On a happy note, years later when the trumpeter was knighted for services to the pope, the Baron allowed the marriage) The phrases on the sides can be translated as May God protect you it would have been so fine. May God protect you it was not meant to be.
When you look into the stein or look at the bottom you can see a faint spider hairline crack. I filled it with water and left it overnight and there did not seem to be any leakage.
