    Description

    This is a .5 liter stoneware stein made by Reinhold Merkelbach of Grenzhausen Germanny between 1916 and 1936. It is 6.5" to the top of the pewter  thumb-lift which is attached to the handle through a 5 ring hinge. Transfer decoration with hand painted hi-lites of a couple toasting with a translation by the Stein Collectors International.

    I believe this is a Franz Ringer design. The fingers of the left hand(photo 5) are a Ringer characteristic. Lid engraved HK. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or hairlines.
