  • Condition: Nice soft leather on the inside and outside leather. The interior leather is soft but has some chafing up a bit as the pictures will show. No chafing up in the fingers. A prior owner wrote their name on the underside of the backstrap, so its not really noticeable when the button is attached or when used.. The soft leather piping is intact and nice overall. The red Rawlings patch shows light wear. The leather lacing is intact and the fingers may have been relaced before I got the glove. Nice shiny Rawlings button on the back. Lots of the silver stamping is there. But its worn away on most of the Mickey and in his face in the middle. Also some of the Rawlings logo shows worn silver and Made in USA. But still a very nice looking Mantle glove.

    Description

    Here is a vintage early 1960's era Rawlings  Mickey Mantle Model MM-6 baseball glove for a RH thrower. The glove was made in the USA. The model is also called The Comet a reference to Mickey's nickname The Commerce Comet.  Also the glove is a bit more desirable as it has the early version of the Mickey Mantle facsimile signature stamped into the glove. It measures 10" long through the pocket. Nice soft leather inside and out with a little chafing on the interior. Custom Crafted in the web,  Deep Well Pocket by web, Hinged Pad in heel, MIckey Mantle Professional and the picture of him holding his glove. Also MM6 Rawlings and Made in USA. Nothing stamped on the back, but a nice Red Rawlings patch on the backstrap and a shiny brass Rawlings button. The glove is probably a youth size glove (high school) but my adult hand fits in it fine.

    Mickey Mantle of course played his entire career from 1951-1971 with the New York Yankees and is a member of the MBL Hall of Fame. He won the American League Triple Crown in 1956 (highest average, most homers and RBI's).
