Manufactured in 1959 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the DDR.
Historical Background
East Germany would produce anniversary badges celebrating the formation of the DDR, I believe they started making them from the 10th anniversary right up until the dissolution of the DDR in 1990 and the fall of the Berlin Wall.
