  • Condition: The quality vintage glove has no owners ink on it. I relaced the fingers as the original lace was broken. The lacing on the web is original but at the bottom of the web on the outside, the knot is gone due to the damage in that area from a dog or something. The biggest issue with the glove is the exterior area below the bottom of the web. The leather there is really roughed up by either a dog or bugs. The problem is only on the exterior. Soft leather everywhere else. Nice interior leather with very minor chafing. The leather piping on it shows lots of wear. Lightly faded Rawlings patch on the backstrap. Shiny Rawlings brass button.

    Description

    Here is a vintage 1950's Rawlings Duke Snider endorsed Model DS  "The Duke" baseball glove for a Right Handed thrower and thus fits on the left hand. Snider was a right handed thrower and mainly played centerfield.  Made in the USA. The glove is an adult size glove and it measures 10" long through the pocket. Rawlings made this glove with his endorsement from 1954-1959 and it was a quality well made glove.  See below for condition info. Deep Well Model (faintly) by web, Duke Snider, The Duke,  Custom Built, Rawlings, DS, Floating Heel, Anchored Web, Pat. No. 2,629,096 and Snugger Adjustment Patent App. For are all stamped on the glove. There is an intact but somewhat faded original Rawlings patch sewn on the backstrap.

    Duke Snider of course is a Major League Hall of Famer after a great career from 1947 - 1964 with the Brooklyn Dodgers (1947-1957), Los Angeles Dodgers (1958-1962). He finished playing for the New York Mets in 1963 and the San Francisco in 1964. He was on 2 World Series winning teams in 1955 with the Brooklyn Dodgers and in 1959 with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was an 8 time All-Star and the Major League Player of the Year in 1955.
